Tire Load Index Decoder
The number in a size like 91V is the load index: how much weight each tire can carry. Enter an index from 70 to 130 to find the maximum load in kilograms.
How it works
The load index is part of the tire size code, e.g. 91V means load index 91 and speed rating V. The values below 100 mostly apply to single-wheel fitment; some indices also have lower dual (twin) values for truck axles.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fit a higher load index than my car needs?
Yes — a higher index is safe and common (the tire can carry more). Never fit a lower load index than the vehicle manufacturer specifies.
What is my minimum load index?
It is printed in your vehicle manual and on the door sticker. Multiply the maximum front-axle weight by 1.1 and divide by two to get a safe per-tire minimum.
