Tire Replacement Calculator

Measure your tread depth with a gauge or a 1-euro coin and estimate when your tires will hit the 1.6 mm legal minimum. Based on the distance already driven since the tires were new.

How it works

Wear rate is computed from the tread already lost over the distance driven. Remaining tread is divided by that wear rate to estimate the kilometres left, then converted to months using your annual distance. Winter tires should be replaced earlier (many experts say at 4 mm).

Frequently asked questions

At what tread depth should I replace winter tires?

Many winter-tire experts and some regulations recommend replacement at 4 mm, well above the 1.6 mm summer minimum, because grip drops sharply below that in snow and slush.

Is the 1.6 mm limit the same everywhere?

Most European countries use 1.6 mm as the legal minimum for summer use, but values differ by country and for winter tires. Check your local rules and the visible tread-wear indicators (TWIs).
